What criteria do you consider when selecting a tournament to play in? Is it location, price, format, awards and maybe the reward to your team…if your team places high enough, what’s the berth for?
These are all fine criteria so let’s address each of these possible determining factors, one by one.
LOCATION: Florida Travel Ball hosts EVENTS (not tournaments) from Tampa to Jacksonville and points in between. Our headquarters are located in Kissimmee, Florida. Therefore, a bulk of our events is in Altamonte Springs, Orlando, and Kissimmee. We can’t forget about Leesburg, which is where we first started hosting events almost five years ago. If there is not one scheduled near you, travel a little ways…you will not be disappointed.
PRICE: As other organizations continue to raise prices and hit you with multiple registration and sanction fees, Florida Travel Ball tries to keep its entry fees as reasonable and as low as possible; and because we only affiliate our events with USSSA, you only have to pay one yearly registration fee. For most Florida Travel Ball events, 8U/9U is less than $290, 10U is less than $325, 11U/12U is less than $350, 13U/14U is less than $425 and 15U and above is between $425 - $525. USSSA NIT and State Championship Tournaments are slightly higher because of the extra costs involved with running these high profile events. USSSA Super NIT and World Series entry fees are set by USSSA. Compare our prices; we are the best deal in town.
AWARDS: Florida Travel Ball always gives out high quality trophies and awards. We emphasize the individual player’s awards not the manager’s team award. After all the game is for the players…isn’t it?
REWARDS (Berths): This may be the single largest determining factor for you and your team. What’s in it for your team…we award the top 25% of teams in the final standings USSSA berths. Why USSSA? We know that USSSA offers better post season World Series options than any other brand of baseball. In fact, last year (2008), 2,300+ teams played in USSSA World Series, that’s an average of 160+ per age division. Also, USSSA is the only National Association that offers World Series in four completely separate classifications of play (i.e.; Major, AAA, AA & All-Star) and the only association that offers World Series in 13 different age divisions, from 6U all the way through 18U. USSSA’s World Series are so large that can’t run all ages at one location. Have you ever played in an event with 50 teams from 30 different states just in your age division and classification? That’s a World Series! So ask yourself what reward (berth) you’re playing for before you enter your next event.
Regardless of which one of these are your top criteria, at Florida Travel Ball Events, we cover all the bases!
